Providing samples: we will provide sterile whirl pack bags for beer samples. Wort and yeast samples should be shipped double-bagged in plastic in case of breakage or leaking, and packaged with ice. Proprietary Strain Archiving
Wyeast Laboratories offers custom yeast strain analysis and archiving to insure consistency and quality of your products. The culture provided is plated for wild yeast, bacteria, and mold. If multiple strains of Saccharomyces sp. are present, each strain is isolated and analyzed for fermentation characteristics. The analysis of each individual strain is used to choose the primary culture.
The isolated and purified culture is maintained in Wyeast’s cryogenic yeast bank. Pitchable volumes for any size system can be available for shipping with two weeks’ lead time.
The organism remains under the ownership of the client, and will not be used, given, or sold to any other party without the expressed written permission of the client. The strain ID and nature of the organism also remains proprietary and confidential information. Wyeast Laboratories, Inc. will not divulge any information regarding proprietary organisms.
Wyeast charges a one-time archiving and analysis fee plus an annual strain maintenance fee. Please contact us for more information about this valuable service.
