STYLE: De Chaunac

Back to Styles List

De Chaunac grapes produce heavily pigmented wines that give black cherry and plumb notes but can be very neutral and non-descript. Good acid with low tannins.

Origin:
A French hybrid that grows well in colder northern climates. This vine is heavy yielding and needs to be cluster thinned.

Tips:
Age in oak to add character and structure to what can otherwise be a very neutral wine.

Wyeast Strains:
   4028 - Red (formerly Chateau Red™)
   4244 - Italian Red (formerly Chianti™)
   4267 - Summationa Red (formerly Bordeaux™)
