STYLE: Brandy

Back to Styles List

True brandy is simply a grape based spirit however the term brandy is applied to many flavored alcohols that don't come from grape fermentations. The best brandies come from quality wines however the vast majority of brandy is made from low quality bulk wines that have little to no character.

Brandy is probably a Dutch invention. The name brandy is derived from the Dutch word brandewijn meaning burnt wine.
