STYLE: Petit Verdot
This black grape variety ripens later than Cabernet Sauvignon and when fully ripe produces very rich and tannic wines that can be aged for long periods. This is a difficult grape to ripen but can be a tremendous addition to Bordeaux style blends or Meritage. Petit Verdot has very thick skins and is quite resistant to rot.Origin:
Petit Verdot is native to Bordeaux but is not planted to any great extent there.
Tips:
Blend with varieties that need structure.
